
Simona Malerba was born in 1996 in Lecce, Italy. She started her studies in piano and music theory in lower secondary school and then she continued her education at the Conservatorio di Musica “Tito Schipa” in Lecce (Italy), under the guidance of M° Roberto Corlianó. She has attained both her Bachelor’s degree in Classical Piano and the Master’s degree in Soloist Piano from Conservatorio di Musica “Tito Schipa” in Lecce (Italy). She’s currently attending the Master’s degree in Opera Répétiteur at the Norges musikkhøgskole in Oslo (Norway), under the guidance of Boris Schäfer.
During the years she attended several Masterclasses with prestigious musicians such as Marian Sobula, Pasquale Iannone, Michele Marvulli, Michele D’Elia, Gregorio Goffredo, Anne Sofie von Otter and others, and she played in various concerts, both as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles. The most recent of them, the Interpuls Festival where she has been part of the ensemble that performed Music for 18 musicians by Steve Reich in Kulturkirken Jakob, Oslo.
In the last year, she is gaining experience in the opera field working in different concerts and productions: among them, the collaborations with Den Norske Opera & Ballet in Oslo for Così fan tutte by W.A. Mozart, Satyagraha by Philip Glass and Antigone by Sami Moussa, working with prestigious directors and conductors such as Joseph Alford, Ronald Rørvik, Magnus Loddgard, Cathrine Winnes and others, as well as concerts and workshops with NMH and KHiO.
